Articles: Midlife Mindset- Making New Behaviour Stick

Have you ever signed up for something with the best intentions, only to realise a few weeks later that you’ve barely looked at it?

You’re definitely not alone!

When we start something new, it’s really easy to think, “I’ll have a proper look when I’ve got a bit more time.” But life carries on being busy and, before we know it, we’ve lost momentum before we’ve even got started.

That’s why I’d really encourage you to start using The Hub straight away.

You don’t need to do everything. In fact, I’d rather you didn’t!

Have a browse through the recipes while you’re having a cup of tea. Read an article before bed. Download the workout planner and think about how you can fit a couple of strength sessions into your week. Try one workout and see how you get on.

I’d much rather you spent 10 minutes in The Hub every week than tried to do everything in one go and never came back.

You don’t have to use every part of The Hub each week to get your money’s worth.

If one workout gets you moving, one recipe saves you wondering what’s for dinner, or one article helps you understand what’s happening in your body, then that’s a win. Every small step adds up, and that’s exactly what The Hub is here to support.

The important thing is that you start building the habit of popping in regularly. Little by little, it will become part of your routine.

Another thing that really helps is making it easy for yourself. Instead of thinking, “I’ll exercise more this week,” be a bit more specific.

Perhaps you’ll do your strength workout after work on Tuesday, read an article with your morning coffee on Thursday, or spend a few minutes planning your meals on Sunday. The more you link these things to something you already do, the more likely they are to happen.

And remember, there will be weeks when life gets in the way. That’s completely normal.

Don’t think you’ve failed because you missed a workout or didn’t stick to your plan perfectly. Just pick up where you left off. One missed day doesn’t undo all your progress, but giving up because it wasn’t perfect often does.

Healthy habits aren’t built by doing everything perfectly. They’re built by coming back, again and again.

Download the workout planner and meal planner, save a couple of recipes, read an article and have a look through the workouts. There is no pressure to do everything at once.

Just get into the habit of popping in.

Your future self will thank you for it.

How can I help?

One of the reasons I created The Hub was so you’d never feel like you were doing it all on your own.

If you’re not sure where to start, you’re struggling to stay motivated, or you just need someone to keep you accountable for a little while, please get in touch.

I’m more than happy to help you make a plan, suggest workouts, point you towards recipes or simply check in with you regularly until you get into a routine.

Sometimes knowing someone is going to ask, “How did you get on this week?” is all the motivation we need.

Please don’t ever worry about asking too many questions—that’s exactly what I’m here for.
